"Fordite"
This gorgeous piece of "Fordite" has mainly yellows and reds. It is wire wrapped in .925 Sterling Silver wire. Comes with a 20" black satin cord. This is a man-made material.
Measures 2.25" tall x .75" wide.
Fordite is not a natural stone; it is hardened automotive paint overspray from old production line skids and tracks where cars were hand-spray-painted and baked repeatedly in ovens.
Factories in Ohio that painted vans and trucks accumulated thick layers of 1970s "flower child" shades, which frequently included bright yellows, oranges, and earthy tones.
While 1950s and 1960s Fordite leaned toward pastel yellows or bright space-age hues, the richer, vibrant harvest yellows typically trace back to 1970s commercial and passenger vehicle production.
